Prepare for the Fair: How to Navigate the CU Denver Internship & Job Fair

Aug 23, 2024Get ready to secure your next job or internship at the upcoming Internship & Job Fair on September 25 and 26!
At the Fall Internship and Job Fair, you will meet and network with employers, learn about job and internship opportunities, and apply to open positions!
With about 80 companies and organizations attending, the fair can get overwhelming. Here are a few steps to help you prepare ahead of time:

September 26: All-Industry Fair, 10am–2pm
Log into Handshake and Visit the Internship and Job Fair Page
If you haven’t logged into Handshake yet, now is the time. Handshake accounts are set up for all CU Denver students. Log in and complete your profile to start your career journey. With your free Handshake account, you can:
- Browse local, national and international internship and job postings for all majors.
- Find events where you can network with professionals, including new virtual employer events added each week.
- View a personalized feed and custom recommendations for you.
- Read job and internship reviews for the companies you’re interested in on the Employer Pages. Get a glimpse into the day-to-day life of an intern, or the inside scoop on the interview process.
The Internship and Job Fair page in Handshake tells you everything you will need to know about this year’s fair. Continue to check that page ahead of the fair to see an updated list of employers that will be attending and a map where you can find them. Stand out as a candidate by researching the companies you’re interested in ahead of time. Bonus: Career Counselors can help you write personalized cover letters for each company that you plan on speaking to at the Career Fair!
Revise your Resume
The Career Center and Experiential Learning Center hold drop-in hours every Monday-Thursday from 1-3pm. Drop in to Tivoli 439 to meet with an advisor for resume help. Looking for more one on one help? Make an appointment with a Career Counselor today! Whether your resume is in pristine condition, or you’re barely getting started, the Career Center can help!
To get some extra networking time with employers, sign-up for a Resume Review Day. Employers will be hosting sessions to review your resume and tell you exactly what they look for in a resume when they hire candidates.

Update your LinkedIn
While you’re networking with employers at the fair, it may be a good idea to add them on LinkedIn. Stop by LynxConnect in Tivoli 439 to use the Selfie Headshot Station to update your LinkedIn headshot. Visit LynxConnect during drop-in hours (Mon-Thurs 1–3pm) or make an appointment to meet with a Career Counselor to make sure your LinkedIn reflects your experience and accomplishments.
Browse the Career Closet
CU Denver students can take 2 pieces of clothing for free from the Career Closet every semester! Stop by LynxConnect in Tivoli 439, Monday–Friday from 8am–4:30pm, to browse their selection of business casual attire. Whether you need an outfit for an interview, presentation, or the Fall Career Fair, they have you covered!
