It is very important that F-1 and J-1 Students maintain their immigration status while in the U.S. See some of the general information below for more details.
U.S. Address: All F and J students are required to report any changes in their physical Colorado mailing address. If there is a change in your Colorado mailing address, you must update your address in the CU Denver Portal within 10 days of the change.
Email Requirement: All CU Denver students need to activate their CU Denver email account. Your University e-mail is the official means of communication for ISSS. You need to check your email several times a week. You can expect to receive emails from CU Denver staff and faculty, including from professors, your department, the Registrar, and the Bursar.
Health Insurance: All F-1 and J-1 Student must have health insurance. F-1 and J-1 students are automatically enrolled in the CU Denver's International Student Health Insurance Plan. See our page on Health Requirements. If you have a comparable policy and wish to waive out of the CU Denver plan, please visit the Student Health Insurance website.
Sometimes a student will need to request a Reduced Course Load (RCL) for a specific semester based on academic, medical, or because it is their final semester. Below are the explanations of each type of reduced course load that a student can request.
