Transfer Student Financial Aid & Scholarships

The Financial Aid & Scholarships Office is thrilled you are interested in the University of Colorado Denver. As a transfer student, we understand your needs are unique and your time is valuable. Below we’ve outlined the key steps for you to have a successful transfer to the university.

The first step to apply for financial aid is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The application becomes available October 1 of each year. To be considered for the best aid available, complete your FAFSA and submit requested documents by our priority deadline of April 1.

Plan Ahead

  • Request that future disbursements of aid at your previous institution are cancelled for terms you will not attend. If aid is not cancelled, it can prevent or delay the disbursement of aid at CU Denver.
  • Transfer credit to the university to ensure your award reflects your current grade level. Your grade level impacts the amount of loans you may be eligible to receive.
  • Ensure you have enough aid for the year and to complete your degree. To do so, review your federal aid usage on the National Student Loan Data System.
  • Compare your usage to the annual and lifetime limits for Pell Grant and Direct Loans.
