One-on-one Consultations

Each week, the TIPS division dedicates a large amount of time to One-on-One Consultations for faculty and teaching staff. We provide 30-minute, individual consultations for a variety of teaching strategies or questions.

Depending on your question or need, you may want to speak with one of our skilled staff about academic technologies and tool integration, or you may want to speak with an instructional designer about pedagogical practices. Our instructional technologists and instructional designers are especially experienced in online and hybrid teaching modalities, but much of our work is applicable to in-person classes as well.

We look forward to talking with you!

Technology Training and Support

in-person, hybrid, online technologies

A student-centered approach to using technology effectively for all modalities. Speak with an Instructional Technologist to learn more about the tools available, and how to use technology to meet your teaching and learning goals.

Instructional Design

in-person, hybrid, online

Small-scale positive pedagogical practices for course design, development, and delivery. Speak with an instructional designer to learn more about targeted teaching strategies for improved learner outcomes, authentic learning experiences, and learner engagement across multiple modalities.

Common Questions

If you have further questions about One-on-One Consultations, contact us at TIPS@ucdenver.edu

Both technologists and designers are educated and experienced in student-centered teaching practices. We believe a solid team incorporates both technologists and designers, because their skills complement each other and provide holistic support for you and your teaching goals.

Let’s explore their unique traits within TIPS:

Instructional technologists are experts in academic technology and provide the bulk of our training opportunities. They know the ins-and-outs of academic technologies provided at CU Denver, and more importantly understand how to utilize them effectively for teaching and learning purposes. They are continually exploring new innovative technologies and keep up with current trends in digital education.

Instructional designers are experts in pedagogy, teaching strategies, and learner-centered design. They are skilled at exploring the pedagogical elements of your course and collaborating with you on creative solutions to course design and teaching challenges. While they are also familiar with academic technologies, their primary focus would be to explore the pedagogical goal and identify how or why a technology fits the particular need.

Can’t decide which expert to consult with? Contact us at TIPS@ucdenver.edu and we’ll help guide you towards the best fit. (Plus, you can always book additional time!)

Consultations are typically held remotely via Zoom. You will receive a Zoom link in the calendar invitation and confirmation after booking a time. If you would prefer to meet in-person, please let us know and we will attempt to make an arrangement.
