Accommodate System

1. Visit this link to Login to the Accommodate System. Select the Student button, then login with your CU Denver credentials.   

2. Navigate to the menu on the left and select the Accommodation link, then select the Semester Request link.  

3. Under the Semester drop down combo box, select the Add New button (the semester will be selected in the next step).  

 

4. The page will refresh and the accommodations you are approved for will upload at the top in a list format with a blue background. Under the list of accommodations,  select the  semester  in the Semester combo box. Your classes will then upload on the right side of the screen. Be sure to review your classes.   

 

5. Then, you will select either the Submit for All Accommodations button or  the Review the Renewal button.

Submit for All Accommodations
This will process all of your accommodations for all of your classes. Only select this button if you are requesting to use all of your accommodations.

Review the Renewal 
Select this option if you want to use some of your accommodations for certain classes.  For example: If you do not need a note-taker in one of your classes, then you will select Review the Renewal.   

 

6. Once you select Review the Renewal, the page will refresh and each of your accommodations along with a list of your classes will be displayed. Be sure to carefully review each accommodation and un-check the course checkbox as necessary if you do not want the listed accommodation for that course.  

For example, in the screenshot below, the first arrow is pointing to the requested accommodation, Peer note-taker in the classroom.  The second arrow is pointing to t he Course s  section, which   is  listed below the Semester combo box. If you do not want a peer note-taker for a cours e, be sure to uncheck the checkbox for that listed course .   

7.  Once you have reviewed  your accommodations and have ensured that the correct courses are checked, select the Submit button at the end of the Accommodation request  page .  This will submit your requests to be processed for your letters. You will receive an email to your UC Denver email within 1 business day when your letters are available on the Accommodate portal.

Testing Room Booking 

NOTICE: Students must schedule exams in the Accommodate system at least 3 days in advance. Please call the office if your exam is within 3 days.

1. To schedule an exam or quiz in an individual testing room, testing center or if you need a reader/scribe for a virtual exam, log into Accommodate and select the Testing Room link from the main menu on the left. (Keep in mind that the Testing Room link will only be available in your menu if you are approved for testing accommodations). 

 

2. After you select Testing Room, navigate down to the New Booking Request link. Select this link and follow the prompts. 

 

3. Navigate to the course combo box and select the course you want to schedule the exam for. 

 

4. Select a date range that you can take the exam. Utilize the select buttons to select the dates. 

1. You are expected to schedule your exam at the same time and day of the class, if you are unable to schedule your exam at the same time and/or day, please discuss with your professor prior to scheduling the exam. You may then pick a different time or date then the class.

5. Select the time range that you can take the exam. Use the drop down menu options under Time Range. 

6. Under Final Exam, select the option Yes, if you are scheduling a final exam.

 

7. Under the override course length, select Yes if the quiz or exam is less or more time than the scheduled class time (this does not account for your extended time). Select no if the quiz or exam is the same amount of time as the class scheduled time.

 

 

8. Select the building and room where you will be taking the exam. Then, select the days of the week that you are available (choose all that apply).

NOTE: Virtual exams are only for students needing a reader/scribe for an online/remote exam.

 

 

9. Then, the times available will populate on the right-hand side. Choose what exam date and time works best for you. 

IMPORTANT: Please contact your professor about scheduling exams if you are going to take the exam at a different time or day of the class.

 

 

10. Select the accommodations you would like to use for this testing room under Accommodations Needed. 

11. Please add additional info for DRS testing assistants and your professor in the notes section.

   

12. Select the Submit Request button.

13. Once your request is submitted, the exam request will be sent to the professor to review and accept or deny. 

1. ACCEPT: After the professor has accepted the exam request, DRS testing assistants will coordinate the exam accommodations.
2. DENIAL: If the professor denies the exam request, a notification email will be sent to the student and DRS. The exam will no longer be in the system. The student will need to reach out to their professor and discuss reason for denial. If you need assistance, please email alt.testing@ucdenver.edu.
   1. New scheduled exam will need to be created if Professor has denied an exam.
   2. Please talk to your professor about scheduling exams if you are going to take the exam at a different time or day of the class.

14. A new testing room request will need to be submitted in the Accommodate system following the steps above.

15. After the professor has accepted the exam request, DRS testing assistants will prepare exam. 

16. The student is now ready to take the exam on scheduled date.

17. Students can access what scheduled exams are pending and what exams have been approved by going to the Testing Room menu link in Accommodate.

1. Once your semester accommodation letter is complete and has been digitally signed by you in the Accommodate portal, you will need to fill out and submit the Peer Notetaker Request Form. This form will officially place your request for a peer notetaker.

2. After your form has been submitted, an email will be sent to all the students in each of your classes to request a note taker within the first two weeks of the semester.

3. Once a note taker is assigned, a notification email will be sent to you and the note taker notifying them of the match.

 All note takers and students will always remain anonymous.

4. Students can access the notes that have been uploaded by signing into the Student Accommodate portal and going to Note Taker Network and then Note Library. Scroll down to access all notes that have been uploaded, select Download PDF to access and save the notes.

 

5. Note takers are required to upload their notes within 48 hours of the class session.

6. If you are missing notes for a class or have any questions or concerns, please email: notetaker_requests@ucdenver.edu

1. A Peer Note Taker is a student who shares their class notes with a fellow student who has a documented disability. 

2. If a student requests a note taker for a class, an email is sent out to the class offering a peer note taker position.  

3. Note takers will be matched with a student on a first come first serve basis.

4. Once you are assigned as a Peer Note Taker, you will receive an email from DRS with instructions on how to upload your notes to the Accommodate Student System. 

5. Remember, notes should be uploaded within 48 hours of the class session. Reference screenshot below of the Peer Note Taker Network in Accommodate with an arrow pointing to a sample PDF document link of notes. 

1. Visit this link to Login to the Accommodate System and select Student. Sign in with your UC Denver credentials. 

2. Navigate to the Accommodation menu on the left and select the Alternative Format link. 

NOTE: This request process is only for students approved for textbooks in alternative, electronic format. If you are not approved for this accommodation, the Alternative Format link will not be available in your menu. 

3. Under the Alternative Format heading, select the Student Entered link.

4. Then, select the Upload Document for Alternative Format Request link. The request form will then populate. The form consists of combo boxes, form fields and checkboxes. A screen reader user can press the tab key to access the fields.

 

5. Select the semester from the Semester combo box. 

6. Then, select the course from the Course combo box.

 

7. Select the requested file type from the Requested Type of Alt Text combo box. 

8. If you currently use any of the following programs, such as Kurzweil 3000, Bookshare, or Learning Ally, be sure to select all that apply from the checkbox fields.

9. Next you will enter the ISBN number for your textbook  in the ISBN field. 

10. Enter the title of your textbook in the Title field. 

11. Enter the author in the Author field. 

12. If you have the edition number, please enter that in the Edition field.  Be sure to fill out this form as completely as possible; this will help us ensure we get the appropriate textbook for you. 

13, If you have an additional book request, select the Request Additional Alternative Format button.

14. When you have completed the request form, navigate down to Document Information.  Here you can upload your proof of purchase by selecting the Browse button (if you have already purchased your book).  This can be a picture or a PDF of the receipt. Otherwise you can email your proof of purchase to atlab@ucdenver.edu.

15. Then, navigate to the Any Additional Comments field and include additional comments, if necessary. 

 

16. Review the terms and conditions under the Terms and Conditions heading. 

17. Enter your name in the Agreement to Terms and Conditions field.

18. Select the submit button.
