Sitefinity releases and 10.2 upgrade - May 16, 2018
New and improved Sitefinity features
Jun 15, 2018Enhanced Card content type/widget
In response to user feedback and common struggles with the out-of-the-box card widget, we have developed a new Enhanced Card, which can not only be reusable, but is very configurable with the options for six different views and the ability to add all kinds of media (images, videos, embedded videos). Display two, three (or more) cards in a row and regardless of content, the cards will remain the same height and width. Learn how to use Enhanced Cards.People content type/widget
Creating biographies and “About us” pages just got a lot easier. The new People content type pulls your faculty and staff’s information directly from the HR system (HCM) as a starting point for you to build robust profiles on employees in your campus unit. This new widget will allow you to display simple data like contact information or a full biography with an attached resume, links to social media, publications, awards and more. As part of the additional domain requirement, cuanschutz.edu, we rearchitected Sitefinity as a multisite implementation. We identified the need to re-work our page templates which gave us the opportunity to improve the usability of navigation as well as give site owners more flexibility in building pages.
What’s new?
One-time navigation setup: Navigation options are now setup though the page properties of your homepage and all of your pages get their menus from there. If all of the pages on your site are nested under your homepage, you will only have to setup navigation once. You can still customize individual pages using the new navigation settings, however, consistency of top navigation throughout your site is strongly recommended. In the original templates, builders had to set the navigation options on every page, for every menu and breadcrumb. Learn how to set up navigation.
No more content boxes: Your new templates have empty slots, and you add the content boxes you need when you need them. Remember to always add an H1 to you page – you need it for SEO. In the original templates, content boxes displayed automatically and could not be moved or deleted. That was frustrating for several site builders.
Full width feature areas: Every page template has a slot for a full-width feature. Originally only one template had a spot for a full-width picture or video, and builders found that limiting.
Content stays in place: If your department/office ever has the need to change your page templates from CU Denver to CU Anschutz or vice versa, you can do that without content shifting or disappearing.

Note: We are currently on a monthly release schedule and you can expect mid-month release notes regularly. The next release is June 20, 2018 and we are finalizing that deployment and training materials now.
