NCFDD Faculty Success Program: Faculty Grant

Denver Campus Faculty

Applications for Summer & Fall 2025 are now open.

The University of Colorado Denver is pleased to offer eight fully funded spots (at a value of $5250 each) in the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity’s Faculty Success Program (NCFDD FSP). These spots are reserved for faculty on the "Downtown" Denver Campus. (Anschutz Medical Campus faculty, please click here to see your Faculty Success Program funding opportunities.)

This grant represents a partnership between the CFDA and the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The CFDA thanks our generous partner for contributing funding. The shared funding allows us to fully support eight faculty members' participation each year.

  • Summer 2025 dates: May 19-July 27, 2025

The highly acclaimed FSP is an intensive, 12-week virtual boot camp offered through NCFDD. It combines empirically tested methods, coaching, peer discussions, and accountability tools to help academics thrive in their careers and achieve healthy work-life balance. FSP is an excellent opportunity for faculty members who are considering various multiple ways their careers can develop throughout the entire faculty lifecycle. The program is especially beneficial for any faculty going through a career transition, including new faculty, faculty going up for tenure and promotion and/or faculty who are learning to handle work-life balance. Faculty who participate in the FSP will be eligible for special, “alumni-only” NCFDD programs in subsequent years.

Some of the program’s aims include: to set achievable professional and personal goals and a realistic plan to meet them; to establish a consistent and sustainable daily writing routine; to develop a publication profile that exceeds the institution’s promotion criteria; to master best practices in academic time management; to collaborate effectively with colleagues and administrators; and to enjoy a full life beyond campus.

Faculty Success Program expectations: Participants will be expected to become active members of the community of participants, take weekly training modules, make use of the time-tracking platform WriteNow, and participate in small-group weekly accountability calls. Each group will be joined by a NCFDD-certified productivity coach.

CU Denver FSP participants will also be invited to join other CU Denver FSP alumni to continue to connect and support each other in years afterward.

You can find more information about the program and testimonials from participants here: https://www.facultydiversity.org/fsp-bootcamp

Eligibility

While NCFDD has structured the Faculty Success Program specifically for faculty in the tenure track, we believe the FSP program can benefit all CU Denver faculty who are institutional members of NCFDD. Thus, we have negotiated with NCFDD to welcome any faculty member with research as part of their contract to our cohort.

We will aim to provide one spot for faculty in each of the seven schools/colleges plus the library. If any school/college or the library does not have an applicant, its spot will be redistributed to another CU Denver faculty member.

Selection of Grant Recipients

The Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the CFDA will select the award recipients based on the following criteria:

  • Strong statement of interest identifying concrete, productive goals
  • Strong recommendation by their chair, dean, or associate dean
  • Applicants who identify with a historically marginalized group will receive some prioritization.

Congratulations to our program alumni!
