Sitefinity August 2020 Release
Kali Karakasidou | Office of Information Technology Aug 26, 2020Enhancements + Updates:
SAML authentication: most of our sprint work in August was focused on fixing and enhancing the SAML authentication process with Sitefinity and CU Denver. The most exciting announcement to share regarding this is that the page editing experience now occurs on the builder’s own domain instead of ucdenver.edu, which will bypass many of the redirect issues that have occurred in July and August. For a full list of SAML authenticated-related fixed and enhancements, see below or this AtWeb page.
Navigation changes: we fixed the issue that when a redirecting internal page was in the navigation, it was showing the external link indicator. This link indicator will no longer show on internal redirection pages.
SEO updates: as a result of our CU Denver Student Journey Web Experience launch, we continue to enhance our technical SEO side of Sitefinity and supporting project goals via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
Academic Programs: we have removed the program page URL form the detail view.
SVGs: we have now allowed SVG uploads on the following content types and widgets: events, research + creative projects, articles, academic programs, research admin – research types.
Testimonials: we're happy to announce several new enhanced testimonial templates to boost the visual appeal of testimonials. Check them out on this AtWeb page!

- CMS Login has been updated to use the most up to date methods of authentication recommended by our Identity Management team
- Site builders will experience an improved Sitefinity Form editing and publishing experience
- Builders can now login on their own website domain instead of ucdenver.edu and receive the “Pencil menu” on their own pages
- This will fix the issue when you want to edit a page, click on “CMS login”, it will actually direct you to the page and not to the dashboard.
- When builders first login, they will see the Pencil menu instead of being directed to the Dashboard, click the Pencil menu and select the Dashboard option to proceed to the backend.
- Sitefinity Dashboard now runs on a site builder’s own domain instead of just ucdenver.edu
- Page editing experience now occurs on the builder’s own domain instead of ucdenver.edu, this will bypass many of the sweeping redirect issues that have occurred in July and August.
- When changing between domains, builders will need to log out and login, accounts can only login on one domain at a time
- Clears the upgrade path for Sitefinity, which was blocked by the older method of logging in
- Inline content editing will be temporarily unavailable, normal page and content type editing will continue to function
