In addition to releasing the upgrade to Sitefinity 14.4, we are pleased to share the following updates for our November 17 release to Sitefinity:
Enhancements to Current Functionality
- Academic Program Finder: a new field has been added so the program finder can be sorted alphabetically, and the program finder layout for 4K/ultra-wide monitor users has been improved.
- Dual campus logo: The dual campus mark will be split to link to the two respective homepages for CU Denver and CU Anschutz.
- Footer horizontal rule for departments: If there is one building and no phone number, email, or social media icons, the horizontal rule underneath the department will no longer show to improve the footer aesthetic.
- Web bio detail links: A new option has been added to the web bio that allows for detail links to be disabled. Once this option is checked and saved, links will no longer show on the grid, simple list, default, and table templates. The other web bio templates do not link to the detail page, as before.
Accessibility Improvements
- Ankle: Line height has been set to recommended 1.5.
- Articles, Facts & Figures, RSS Feed Reader: Unnecessary aria-labels or aria-describedby attributes have been removed on various widgets. This should address the issue of accessible labels matching visible labels flagged in Siteimprove.
- Content Block, Card, Checklist Steps, Hero Image, Highlight Box, Policies, Tools & Services: CSS updates have been made to various widgets so that links within paragraph text are now underlined. This should address issues where links not being underlined are flagged in Siteimprove.
- Documents & Files: Addition of an aria-description of “opens in a new window” when documents or files are uploaded to a page.
- Featured Tabs, Ankle, Tools & Services: Removed unnecessary or incorrect aria attributes that were being flagged on various widgets.
- Forms: Addition of an ID and aria-labelledby attribute on the “Filter by” dropdown button so this has an accessible title.
- Glossary Tooltip: Element was changed from a mark to a span, a screen-reader only span of ”tooltip” has been added, tooltip role has been added, an aria-description has been added.
- Hero Carousel: Region and group roles have been added where necessary, and aria label has been added.
- Main nav search button: Corrected accessibility issues when the main navigation search button comes into focus and when focus is removed.
- Testimonials: Improvements were made to focus outline behavior on click and tab.
- Video Gallery: A button role attribute has been added, CSS was updated.
