Sitefinity Release Notes: April 24, 2024
Tarah Dykeman Apr 24, 2024Greetings Web Community!
We are pleased to share the following updates for our April 24 Sitefinity release, along with a reminder about upcoming web accessibility law requirements:
Updates to Strategic Projects
- CU Denver Academic Program Finder: An issue has been fixed where Google was indexing program pages that had a different landing page in a school or college’s site. Any programs with the ‘Program Page Link – Internal' or ‘Program Page Link – External' field filled out will redirect to that URL. This matches what is shown on the Academic Program Finder page already.
Enhancements to Current Functionality
- Footer link groups: When there are 3 or more link groups in the footer, you can now adjust the width of each link group to be equally spaced. You can turn on this option in Title & Properties under “Link Group Spacing” (check out this AtWeb page to learn more about footer options). Currently, link group widths automatically adjust to the width of the content in the link group.
Accessibility Improvements
- Academic Programs Widget: An issue where there was a link within a button on CTA’s has been resolved.
- Card, Checklist Steps, Tools & Services: Additional link underline styling was added to anchor elements.
- Clipping flags: A clipping issue for UCDenver degree program dropdowns has been addressed in Firefox at 200% zoom text.
- RSS Feed Reader Duplicate ID flags: Remaining duplicate ID flags have been resolved for the RSS feed reader widget.
- Video Gallery Widget: A title has been added to the close button for the video gallery widget.
Noteworthy Bug Fixes
- Academic Programs widget: An issue has been fixed with Google indexing automatically generated detail page URLs that shouldn’t exist given filters applied to the widget. Now, when a user or Google visits a detail page that doesn’t meet the filtering criteria, it will redirect to /404.
- Hero carousel widget: A bug has been fixed that was preventing all of the hero carousel images from showing when there were multiple hero carousels widgets on a page.
ACTION REQUIRED: Web Accessibility Compliance
The new Colorado accessibility law, HB21-1110, affects university websites and will go into effect July 1, 2024. This means that as university website owners/content managers, you must ensure your website content meets the minimum web accessibility standards before July 1.
