Launching the New Alumni Program – CU Culture & Cuisine: Spain
University of Colorado Denver
Lively conversations, laughter, and delicious Spanish tapas and wines accentuated an evening of fun and learning as the University of Colorado Denver celebrated the launch of its new CU Alumni Culture & Cuisine: Spain program. Whether the event-goers were seasoned world travelers or planning their first study trip abroad, all agreed that Barcelona is an excellent location for learning about the arts, architecture, history, and foods of the region.
CU Denver Senior Instructor E.J.Yoder, who will be conducting the group program in June explained,
“The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Office of International Affairs have collaborated on a student study abroad in Spain for several years. Parents and alumni have also been interested in exploring the foods and culture of Spain, too – so we’ve created a program for them.”
“My sister lives in Texas and she’ll be meeting me to fly out from Denver this June,” said an excited participant. “It’s the first time we’ve traveled together in years!”
Another woman explained that she and her husband had lived in several parts of the world and were intrigued by the idea of traveling with like-minded alumni and their associates.
The program runs from June 11-June 18, 2016. Participants will be able to savor traditional and modern Catalonian cuisine, tour vineyards and learn about the history and culture behind regional foods and wines. Visits will be conducted to the Salvador Dalí Museum, the largest surrealistic museum in the world, and to museums to view master artwork by painters Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró and architecture by Antoni Guadí.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming CU alumni and their friends for a great trip this summer,” said Yoder.
