Among these opportunities stands the renowned Fulbright U.S. Student Program, which broadens students’ perspectives through academic and professional advancement and cross-cultural dialogue. The Program has fostered mutual understanding between the United States and other countries since 1946. Sponsored and administered by the U.S. government, the program offers unique opportunities to graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds.

Program options include open study and research on the participant’s chosen topic, English language teaching, and special programs such as Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships in Public Health and the Fulbright-National Geographic Award.

We are pleased to see a rise in the successes of our CU Denver student Fulbright applicants.  In recent years, CU Denver students have been awarded Fulbright grant awards on topics such as study and research in education and human development (in Nepal), mathematics (in Brazil), Spanish and linguistics (in Mexico), international relations and public affairs (in Spain), integrative biology (in Poland), and economics (in The Netherlands).

Our faculty play an essential role; they are the greatest positive influence on students who decide to apply for a Fulbright award. We greatly appreciate the support that faculty and staff have provided, and welcome their ideas and insights as we partner in building awareness and encouraging student applications.

Faculty are also exemplars of international research and teaching in countries around the world through the Fulbright Scholar Program. Their expertise covers a wide range of subjects, such as microfinance (in Bolivia), water resources and environmental policy (in New Zealand), politics and reservations for women (in India), curriculum development for English language (in Mexico), urban design (in Turkey), and others. They, along with students on the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, contribute to the development and sharing of knowledge and to deeper understandings between people in the U.S. and in other countries. Their work and presence abroad enhances the reputation of CU Denver.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers transformative educational experiences in 140 countries and in all academic disciplines.
