Accessibility 101: Documents and Presentation

Document Fundamentals

The CU Boulder Digital Accessibility Office (DAO) will provide a platform-agnostic overview of the core concepts and practices of digital accessibility.

 

Presentation Accessibility

The CU Boulder Digital Accessibility Office (DAO) will provide guidance on presenting accessible virtual and in-person lectures, presentations, or events. This training session will discuss presentation platform accessibility, captioning resources, accommodation support, and how to inclusively and accessibly present to all potential audience members. 

You are invited to attend one or both sessions. Lunch will be provided. 

Both workshops are offered by the CFDA, in collaboration with the Accessibility Operations Team. 

 

Faculty Support for Student Executive Functioning Needs

March 7th, 2025;  10 AM-1 PM

Enroll with the CFDA office.

Philippe Ernewein, Dever Academy, facilitator.  Faculty will learn about the executive functioning challenges many students face that affect their success in class such as time management, organization, and reviewing and tools and techniques they can offer and utilize in their classrooms to help with these needs. 

Please note we are preparing a workshop for students on executive functioning tools that would be offered by a faculty cohort in various setting and by various modes beginning next fall.  If you would like to be part of that cohort (this session is a great introduction to that work), contact Colleen Donnelly colleen.donnelly@ucdenver.edu.   (Modest professional funds are offered for participating in this work.)

 

Converting Files, Docs and Images for Accessibility

April 11th, 2025;  1-3:30 PM

Enroll with the CFDA office.

Maitreyi Kale, DRS, will guide faculty though how they can use Canvapro to make source materials in their classes—texts, pdfs, etc more accessible.  Faculty will receive a one year license for Canvapro for attending.  Please enroll by Apr 1st so we can facilitate you receiving the license before the session.

 

Community Event

 May 6th, 2025 – Finals Week Destress Event—Meet Freedom Service Dogs

Partnering with the library, this spring we will again bring puppies dogs to help destress during final.  This spring the dogs will be from Freedom Service dogs do the community can learn about the many jobs of these wonderful working dogs and those training to become future service dogs as well as learning about the difference between emotional support animals and service animals and how to treat both master and service animals when you encounter them.

 

Accessibility Certificate

Offered by CFDA and the Accessibility Operation Team and consists of 10+ hours of training in accessibility practices and understanding how to promote accessibility and recognize and reduce ableism on campus.
