Description: Access to and participation in art is a federal and state standard in the United States. Authentic participation in art is essential to help students, including those with disabilities, develop skills in the areas of complex problem-solving, cognition, physical development, access methods, social skills, critical-thinking, agency, self expression, and literacy to name a few. Plus, art is just plain fun! This session will be packed full of fun adaptive art projects that are inclusive in design and full of opportunities to practice emergent and conventional literacy skills, creative usage of AAC supports and switch access. You will leave with ideas and resources to start an adapted art program in your classroom, school, or district.
