Arthroscopic Instruments to Support New Surgical Methods in Hip Arthroscopy

Arthroscopic Instruments to Support New Surgical Methods in Hip Arthroscopy

This project aims to address the need for preventative surgeries for young and active patients with hip joint pathologies before resorting to costly and invasive hip joint replacements. The researchers intend to develop the Subchondral Cyst Tool Set, a set of arthroscopic tools that enable surgeons to deliver bone graft to cysts within the hip joint. The project consists of one aim over two years which focused on manufacturing reliable tools. The team, led by Dr. Segil and Dr. Mei-Dan, has extensive entrepreneurial experience and successful ventures in the medical device industry, making them well-suited to bring this innovative toolset to the market and improve patient outcomes in hip joint surgeries. Collaborators: Jacob Segil, PhD
