Welcome to the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine! We have a strong legacy of excellence dating back over 100 years, and are also relentlessly oriented to the future. We are committed to delivering cutting edge clinical care of the highest quality for all conditions of the ear, nose, throat and head and neck cancer; to training the future leaders of Otolaryngology; and to generating research insights that will lead to new treatments for future generations of patients. We are also committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive community for our faculty, our trainees, our staff, our patients and their families.
We offer the latest in clinical care for conditions across the spectrum of Otolaryngology/ENT, with nationally-recognized strength in our Head and Neck Cancer program, our Pediatric Otolaryngology program (including our cleft lip and palate program), our Cochlear Implant program, our Skull Base Surgery program, our Facial Plastics program (including cosmetic and reconstructive services), our Sleep Medicine and Surgery program, our Sinus and Allergy program, and our Voice, Airway and Swallowing program.
We are excited to be training the future leaders in Otolaryngology. Our world-class faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, innovative research programs, and collegial, supportive culture provide an exceptional training environment for medical students, residents, fellows, visiting scholars, pre- and post-doctoral students, speech language pathologists, and audiology graduate students. We are most pleased to offer a T32/R25 resident research program, which gives us the opportunity to cultivate the next generation of clinician-scientists and academic leaders in Otolaryngology, who will translate scientific insights into improved care and outcomes for our patients.
We are proud of the vibrant research in our Department. Our faculty have been awarded nearly $5 million in research funding per year, and our 11 PhD faculty along with our clinical faculty have robust research programs in the fields of chemosensory disorders, head & neck cancer, respiratory system immunomodulation and the microbiome, and the audio-vestibular sciences. Our faculty collaborate extensively with other faculty in the Departments of Cell & Developmental Biology, Physiology & Biophysics, and Immunology & Microbiology, to generate cross-disciplinary insights that drive improvements in the care of our patients.
I am honored to be serving this Department as Chair. I am excited for our bright future ahead, and look forward to welcoming you into the Department.
Sincerely,
Yuri Agrawal, MD MPH
