Weldon Lodwick, professor of mathematical and statistical sciences, conducted his Fulbright research on The Development of Theory, Methods & Application for Modeling Uncertainty & Error in Geographical Information Systems, Geographical Analyses, and Contouring Techniques at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. The Fulbright scholarship allowed Dr. Lodwick to work with two PhD students who both graduated with honors. Weldon Lodwick’s Fulbright research produced a book and four journal articles; one has been the most cited in the journal’s history.
“My Fulbright Scholar Program to the Mathematics Department of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, a university founded in 1298, was a re-creative, rejuvenating, and re-invigorating experience in all aspects of academic life, including teaching, research, and service.”
