University of Colorado Denver Hosts China Delegation
Jun 3, 2013The University of Colorado Denver was one of three American institutions visited by a seventeen member educational delegation sponsored by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), China’s professional association focused on the internationalization of Chinese higher education that conducts international educational exchanges and cooperation. The delegation, comprised of high-ranking officials and faculty members from eleven different Chinese institutions, arrived on the CU Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus on May 31 with the goal of exploring a variety of educational partnership options.
Hosted by the Office of International Affairs, the guests were given a morning tour of the Anschutz Medical Campus and an afternoon tour of the downtown Denver campus. Sueann Ambron, Dean of the Business School, served as host to the delegation’s visit on the Denver campus. Representatives from a number of the university’s 13 schools/colleges attended the midday luncheon. Their presentations about degree programs and research in public health, bioscience, nursing, bioengineering, math, science, engineering, business, and other disciplines prompted interest and lively discussions with the Chinese visitors. The Chinese visitors also presented valuable information about their respective universities, their top degree programs, and ground-breaking research.
Carolyn North, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Affairs, provided highlights from a range of educational partnership opportunities that are available with the University of Colorado Denver. These include developing memorandums of understandings pertaining to articulation agreements that create pathways from the Chinese university to CU Denver’s advanced undergraduate or graduate admissions; graduate fellowships sponsored by the Chinese government, special certificate programs and training programs for extended studies, dual degree arrangements, and research collaborations.
North summed up the day’s successful discussions by saying, “The opportunity to meet with international leadership from eleven Chinese institutions of higher education provided insight into promising areas for collaboration across a wide range of mutual interests, including study abroad and many types of strategic partnerships. We look forward to exploring these opportunities further in the future.”
