May 31, 2012AURORA, Colo. – The Department of Bioengineering graduated its first Master of Science students in the spring commencement May 25 at Anschutz Medical Campus.
The department, part of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, is the first of its kind in Colorado and the only one in the region.
“The field of bioengineering is at the heart of a revolution in applied engineering and medicine,” said Robin Shandas, PhD, professor and founding chair.
“New solutions are being created, new markets are being spawned and, most importantly, entirely new opportunities to prevent and cure disease are emerging at lightning speed.”
Now numbering 65 masters and doctoral candidates, this year’s group of graduates marked a milestone for the department.
