Manager

Career Family: HealthCare Professional Level: Manager
Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family are responsible for performing a wide range of professional duties to support the university's teaching, research and/or service missions through the provision of health and wellness services,  dealing with general, indirect patient care operations and management of healthcare services.  Functions include hospital administration, healthcare regulatory compliance, patient relations, operational services, admissions, and medical records. Includes professional assignments in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, counseling and behavioral health, public health, dietetics and nutrition, other allied health fields, alternative medicine and therapies, and related disciplines. 
Professional Level Job Summary: Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units, including the development and implementation of processes consistent with college, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision of professional and support staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, public health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. 
  • Three (3) years in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, public health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field. 
  • Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or terminal degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, public health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work  and sector professional certificate/credentials
  • Four (4) years  of related professional experience in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, public health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field.
  • Related professional experience as manager, supervisor, work leader, staff authority or project/program administrator
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • CPR & First Aid
  • HIPAA Knowledge
  • Customer Billing and/or Medical Budgeting
  • Patient/Client Record Management 
  • Data Entry 
  • Strong understanding of current health issues and trends.
  • Knowledge of the organization and the relationship with federal, regional and local health regulations and departments.
  • Knowledge of public information practices and techniques; practices of health service advocacy; principles and practices of determining and serving community health needs. 
Supervision Exercised: No cap on supervision exercised. Should not supervise a higher professional level position.
Salary: Grade 8
