Assistant Director

Career Family: Development Professional Level: Assistant Director
Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family cultivate external donors, develop and maintain business partnerships and relationships, and solicit gifts to the University. Functions include corporate and foundation relations, annual gift giving, capital campaigns, trust and bequests, solicitation research, program development, and events planning or alumni relations when the primary focus is for development purposes.
Professional Level Job Summary: Assistant Directors have responsibility for projects, functions or processes within a department. These positions may recommend strategy and provide professional support to Directors and may have the authority to act on the Director's behalf. Assistant Directors typically supervise other staff but do not generally control the allocation of fiscal or human resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing or other related field, from an accredited institution
  • Four (4) years of experience in fundraising, alumni/donor relations, or other nonprofit role or equivalent experience in for-profit marketing or project management or directly related field.
  • Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or terminal degree  in nonprofit management, business, marketing or other related field, from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of experience in fundraising, alumni/donor relations, or other nonprofit role OR equivalent experience in for-profit marketing or project management or directly related field
  • Related professional experience as director, project/program supervisor, work leader, or staff authority

  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and self-motivator
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Supervision Exercised: No cap on supervision exercised. Should not supervise a higher professional level position.
Salary: Grade 9
