As an alumni of the Executive MBA or MS International Business programs, you have access to the Lifelong Learning Program, where you can continue your professional development in international business through articles, videos, trainings, courses, and events. As a Lifelong Learning Program member, you have free attendance to all CU Denver CIBER virtual events and up to four International Executive Roundtable (IER) events, per academic year, and one Global Context of Business workshop free of charge.

You may choose to attend additional IER events for $50 each, and additional Global Context of Business workshops for $100 each.

The Terrace Room is a large event center on the second floor of Lawrence Street Center.

Event Overview

Ambassador Shiraishi Kazuko will be speaking on Japan’s role in global issues and environmental affairs based on over 40 years of experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was in charge of Arctic Affairs (2015-2016), Ambassador to Lithuania (2012-2015), and Ambassador for Women, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs (2015-2016), in addition to overseas appointments at the Japanese Embassy in Poland and Consulate General in New York City and Atlanta. She is currently a Board member of SCSK, a Tokyo-based global IT service company.

This panel will go from 3:00 - 4:30PM with a reception immediately following from 4:30 - 5:30PM.

Accompanying the Ambassador will be the following speakers:

  • Ms. Suzuki Mayumi, Senior Staff, Risk Management Division, Fukushima Prefectural Government, speaking on the current status of Fukishima, the site of the massive 2011 earthquake and nuclear meltdown.
  • Mr. Maeda Minami, Chief of Stafff, Rakuten Medical, Inc., speaking on “U.S. and Japan as Allies of Innovation”.
  • Mr. Tokunari Takeo, Director, International Development Division, Meiwa Co., Ltd, speaking on “The Strength and Possibilities of Japanese Enterprises in Solving Social Issues”.

The Japanese government’s “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” program started in 2014 under the Fulbright Program to nurture friendship between Japan and the United States.

This event is hosted by CU Denver’s Institute for International Business (IIB), Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and International Business Student Network (IBSN).
