Two Related COVID-19 Cases Among Lynx Crossing Residents

Dec. 15, 2020

CU Denver is reporting an outbreak among two Lynx Crossing Residence Hall students who tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first reported COVID-19 outbreak among our campus community.

Currently, the students are in isolated environments. Both students, who are suitemates, tested positive last week. As a reminder, an outbreak is defined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment as two or more cases within 14 days that are linked to the same location. All currently identified close contacts of these two students have been notified directly, per our policy. However, this case is ongoing so if there is concern in the future that you may have been exposed, you will be contacted by the tracing team.

To go through nearly an entire semester without an outbreak is a remarkable accomplishment for our campus. It’s also a testament to students, faculty, and staff adhering to safety protocols and Lynx Crossing students making good decisions.

As we see a resurgence of COVID-19 in Colorado and across the country, now is the time to be more aware, cautious, and vigilant. Please remember that your choices impact not only your own health and safety, but also that of your friends, family, colleagues, and our campus community. Our campus operations depend on your commitment to following our safety protocols and self-reporting COVID-19 symptoms or positive tests.

Thank you for your support.
