For Faculty: Tenure-Clock Stoppage

April 8, 2020 @ 10:58 a.m.

Dear CU Denver Faculty:

In recognition of the disruption to faculty teaching, research and creative work, and leadership and service caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the move to remote teaching and working, the CU Denver campus will take the following action affecting the timeline for comprehensive review and tenure of pre-tenure faculty:

All pre-tenure faculty will have an automatic one-year stoppage of the tenure clock, effective with faculty who were to be reviewed next academic year (AY 20-21). This modifies the original appointment contract and extends the date of comprehensive review and/or tenure by one year.

Faculty must confirm this stoppage in writing by notifying their Dean by August 31, 2020. It will be the responsibility of each school/college to maintain documentation of each pre-tenure faculty member’s acknowledgement of the clock stoppage. Faculty will receive a signed addendum to their original letter of offer confirming extension of the date of tenure review by one year. Pre-tenure faculty may also stay on their original review schedule by notifying their Dean in writing by August 31, 2020.

Thank you for all that you do for our university, especially in these challenging times.
