Dear Auraria Campus Faculty, and Staff,
Thank you for your partnership as we continue to navigate the complex crisis affecting nearly every corner of the world. As we have all seen, our corner of the world is not exempt.
The ramifications of the COVID-19 virus have been evolving quickly, and we are all working diligently on behalf of our campus community to make smart decisions in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Governor’s office, and the Mayor’s office, while also following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.
As you know, the campus is now operating virtually – in full remote mode.
Until further notice, buildings on the Auraria Campus will not be accessible, except for the Health Center for Auraria, which will have regular clinic hours (weather permitting) to serve our community.
Going forward, ONLY essential personnel and those working on critical research projects – vetted by senior leadership at each Institution – will be allowed access to their respective spaces until we are confident that we can resume on-campus operations. We ask that you respect this process.
The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) is following recommended cleaning protocols for all shared buildings. We are also working to determine the most efficient way to deep clean these spaces (3+ million square feet).
We understand your stress and frustration as this unexpected global event continues to disrupt every aspect of our daily lives. Like you, we will miss the dynamic environment of the Auraria Campus and seeing our students and each other. We will continue to keep you updated.
The health and wellbeing of the entire Auraria Campus community is our most important priority.
Please also know that we will monitor the situation closely, and we will do everything we can to support and maintain a safe campus environment as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time. The situation with COVID-19 is fluid, with things changing quickly.
Most importantly, please remember to take good care of yourselves and your loved ones.
Stay healthy, stay strong,
Colleen A. Walker
