For Students: Fall 2020 Semester Fees

July 17, 2020 @  2:51 p.m.

We are writing today to provide an update on recent decisions about CU Denver fees for the upcoming fall 2020 semester.

The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) has been in negotiations with RTD regarding the tri-institutional College Pass Program for fall 2020. Unfortunately, despite ongoing service reductions and alterations to schedules/routes, RTD has not been willing to renegotiate a reduced rate for the pass for fall 2020.

Given the limited amount of on-campus instruction in fall 2020, the three AHEC institutions have determined that it is in the best interest of the student body as a whole to suspend the RTD contract for the fall 2020 semester. This means that students will not pay the RTD fee (approved by students at $131 per semester) and will not have a valid RTD pass for the semester. We preserve the ability to reinstate the pass for spring 2021 if conditions improve. We encourage students using public transportation to apply for the RTD LiVE income-based discount program, and for those concerned about their ability to cover the cost of a pass to reach out to the Loving Lynx Fund for financial support.

The Auraria Fees and the CU Denver Wellness Center Fee will be discounted by 50%. This allows us to meet the student-approved debt service obligations funded by these fees while giving some financial relief to students. We will continue to charge the Student Services Fee, Information Technology Fee, the International Student Fee if applicable, as well as school and college major and instructional fees. These fees fund a wide variety of student success support services that are provided in multiple modalities.
