CARES Act: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) Disclosure

  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz received a total amount of $17,139,088 (Denver Campus allocation: $14,484,243) in Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERFIII) to distribute to students affected by the current pandemic.
  • The total number of Denver campus students who have received Emergency Grant aid under the Consolidation Appropriations Act and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) as of March 31, 2022 is 7,682.
  • Total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to Denver campus students as of March 31, 2022 is $14,484,243.
  • Guidance provided to students concerning the eligibility criteria and the application process for the emergency financial aid grants were provided as follows:
    • Emails were sent to students on August 20, 2021, November 9, 2021, and March 28,2022 who were determined to be eligible for HEERFIII funding requesting the student to choose how they would like to receive emergency grant funds (direct payment to student or authorize to pay university billing account).
    • If after ten business days from the day the student was notified of eligibility and they did not respond with how to disburse funds, the student received funds by direct payment. 
    • Emails were sent on November 4, 2021 to students that were identified as international, DACA and ASSET inviting them to complete a HEERF III application. Applications are reviewed by the financial aid office to determine if student demonstrate exceptional need.
    • Emails were sent on December 14, 2021 to graduate students who completed a FAFSA inviting them to complete a HEERF III application. Applications are reviewed by the financial aid office to determine if student demonstrate exceptional need.
  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz determined eligibility by requiring the student to meet the following criteria:
    • August 20, 2021 eligibility:
      • Demonstrate exceptional need (Pell Eligible)
      • Enrolled Fall 2021
    • November 4, 2021 eligibility:
      • International Student, DACA and ASSET Students
      • Complete HEERF III application to demonstrate exceptional need
      • Enrolled Fall 2021
    • November 9, 2021 eligibility:
      • Demonstrate exceptional need (Pell eligible and/or a undergraduate student that completed a FAFSA with remaining unmet Cost of Attendance (COA) of $2500 or more)
      • Enrolled Fall 2021
    • December 14, 2021 eligibility:
      • Graduate Student
      • Complete a 2021-2022 FASFA
      • Complete a HEERFIII application that documents exceptional need
      • Enrolled Fall 2021
  • Students who were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grant received an award up to $2500.00
    • March 28, 2022 eligibility:
      • Enrolled Spring 2022 Undergraduate Admits
      • Demonstrate exceptional need (Pell Eligible)
  • Students who were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grant received an award up to $1000.00

  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz received a total amount of $5,092,042.00 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERFII) to distribute to students affected by the current pandemic.
  • The total number of students who have received Emergency Grant aid under the Consolidation Appropriations Act and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) as of August 6, 2021 is 3,678.
  • Guidance provided to students concerning the eligibility criteria and the application process for the emergency financial aid grants were provided as follows:
    • Emails were sent to students on July 21, 2021 who were determined to be eligible for HEERFII funding requesting the student to choose how they would like to receive emergency grant funds (direct payment to student or authorize to pay university billing account).
    • If after tens day that the student was notified of eligibility and they did not respond with how to disburse funds, the student received funds by direct payment. 
  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz determined eligibility by requiring the student to meet the following criteria:
    • Demonstrate exceptional need (Pell Eligible)
    • Enrolled Spring 2021
  • Students who are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grant received an award up to $1277.00

CARES Act: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Disclosure

  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz signed and returned the Department of Education’s Certification and Agreement acknowledging that the university will use 50 percent of the total funds received under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. 
  • The total amount received for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to distribute to students was $5,092,042.00.
  • The estimated total number of students eligible for federal student aid and therefore eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 11,442.
  • The total number of students who have received Emergency Grant aid as of September 30, 2020 is 3,849.
  • Total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grant funds distributed to students as of September 30, 2020 is $5,092,042.00.
  • Guidance provided to students concerning the eligibility criteria and the application process for the emergency financial aid grants were provided as follows:
    • Broad email messaging to all students was sent on May 1, 2020 and directed students to the Financial Aid webpage provides details on how to apply.
    • Emails were sent to students on May 1, 2020, May 29, 2020 and August 18, 2020 to students who were determined to be eligible for federal student aid directing them to a web-based application for CARES Act funds.
    • Information regarding the Emergency Financial Aid Grants has also been shared with students via Division of Student Success Newsletters, Twitter and Facebook. 
    • Information was made available to students via web resources found at the following link https://www.ucdenver.edu/coronavirus
  • The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz determined eligibility by requiring the student to meet the following criteria:
    • Currently enrolled in a degree or aid eligible certificate program
    • Eligible for federal student aid (Complete a FAFSA and meet eligibility requirements)
    • Have unexpected costs related to the disruption in campus operations due to coronavirus.
  • Students who are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grant may receive an award up to $6195 depending on reported qualifying expenses.
