Dear CIDE Supporters and Community, 

Welcome to the Fall 2024 CommunicATor. We are pleased to share this quarter’s updates from the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering, recent initiatives, and advancements in assistive technology.

This Fall was filled with exciting advancements. Our Ready Now emergency preparedness campaign is equipping individuals with the tools to respond confidently in critical situations. At our Human Factors Testing Lab, a dedicated team of engineers, students, and consumers are rigorously testing new assistive devices, advancing accessibility solutions through innovative, real-world applications.

We are also proud of our recent work with GED Testing Services to enhance accessibility in the GED & Me app, ensuring test preparation resources are inclusive for those with visual impairments. And as two major early childhood programs wrap up, we reflect on the lasting impact they’ve had on over 11,000 young learners throughout Colorado, setting a higher standard for accessibility in education.

Our SWAAAC program remains a vital resource, delivering assistive technology expertise to school teams across the state and strengthening support for students in Colorado. These achievements, made possible through the talent and commitment of our team, partners, and community, embody the heart of CIDE’s mission.
