Celebrating $3.4M for Assistive Technology
Denver Construction Industry Rallies for a Decade of Empowerment and Innovation
Elizabeth Coughanour May 30, 2024In a remarkable display of community spirit and philanthropy, the Denver construction industry recently marked a significant milestone with its annual Déjà vu Rendezvous fundraiser. Since its inception in 2009, this event has steadily grown in scope and impact, raising a cumulative total of over $3.4 million for the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (CIDE).
Event Highlights
This year’s 17th annual event, held at Mile High Station, saw participation from 605 attendees representing 122 companies, underscoring the widespread support and engagement within the industry. Major sponsors such as Wagner Equipment, The Lighting Agency, Encore Electric, and many others have consistently contributed to the event’s success. The construction industry in Colorado has consistently demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact at CIDE.
Impact on CIDE
The $259,511 raised this year alone will further CIDE’s mission to empower individuals with disabilities through assistive technology. These funds support crucial initiatives such as expanded clinical services, educational programs, and cutting-edge research in bioengineering at the University of Colorado.
This milestone not only celebrates financial achievement but also underscores the community’s unwavering commitment to making a lasting difference through collaboration and compassion.
Reflecting on this achievement, Marc Able, P.E., Chairman of the Déjà vu Rendezvous steering committee, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support:
"It is truly remarkable that our industry has continued their support of CIDE for more than 18 years thanks to the hard work of all the Steering Committee members. As a result, CIDE has become the leading academic program in the field of Assistive Technology in the world and has operated a one-of-a-kind clinic locally to serve many patients and families dealing with significant disabilities. It is a terrific program and everyone seems to love the event...a true Win-Win!"
As the event looks forward to its next decade of impact, organizers and sponsors alike are poised to build on this success and further enhance their support for CIDE’s vital initiatives.
