Dear colleagues,
As the holidays approach, I want to express my gratitude for your hard work and thoughtful service to CU Denver. Because of your commitment and productivity, we continue to succeed and grow in teaching, research, creative work and service to Denver, to Colorado and beyond.
Governor Hickenlooper announced last Friday that he is authorizing an extra holiday this year for the state’s classified staff. In the spirit of giving thanks, I have decided to join the governor and add one extra holiday for university staff and faculty as well.
While the governor identified November 25 as the extra holiday for most of the state’s classified staff, based on the university’s needs and our current university holiday schedule I have identified January 2, 2017 as our additional holiday for classified staff, university staff and faculty.
I know that additional time with family and friends is one of the
most precious gifts any of us can receive. I hope you enjoy the
extra day off. It is given with my heartfelt thanks for all that
you do, every day, to make CU Denver a wonderful place to work and
learn.
Normal leave policies will apply to these additional holidays. Faculty and staff providing essential services on January 2 will still be required to come to work on that day. If you are required to work on January 2, you may choose an alternative day during January, in coordination with your supervisors, to take administrative leave. Questions should be directed to Kevin Jacobs, Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, at 303-315-2727 or Kevin.Jacobs@ucdenver.edu.
This day off is one way we can acknowledge the time, talent and enthusiasm each of you brings to the university. Thank you for contributing to our collective success.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
Dorothy Horrell
Chancellor
