  • Manifest our CU in the City brand to connect our faculty expertise and student ingenuity with civic, nonprofit, and business leaders looking for fresh ideas and new approaches
  • Serve as an anchor institution in Denver
  • Lead as a regional convener to tackle issues at the macro-level such as growth and associated issues (e.g., affordable housing, low unemployment, congestion)
  • Create meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with employers, industry leaders, municipal governments, and civic leaders



  • Introduced CityCenter as CU Denver's "front door" to the community
  • Selected inaugural class of TIAA Chancellor's Urban Engaged Scholars
  • Strengthened partnerships and joined executive leadership of Downtown Denver Partnership Economic Development Council, Smart Cities Alliance, and Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce
  • Convened focus groups of business and industry leaders to solicit feedback on perceptions of CU Denver
  • Launched the University Partnerships steering committee comprised of representatives from each school and college and key business units around campus
  • Created the position of Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships to serve as the primary point of contact for corporate and industry relationships with CU Denver
  • Initiated partnership with City of Denver and Richard Florida (author of New Urban Crisis Rise of the Creative Class) to conduct community engagement related to their research
  • Launched "Imagine a Great Region" with Gates Family Foundation, Denver Regional Council of Governments, Channel 7 News, Shift Research Lab, City of Denver, Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation, and the Brookings Institute
  • Completed 23 "Hometown Colorado" projects in Lakewood and Arvada
  • Contracted with Visit Denver on research project related to workforce development
  • Contracted with Iliff School of Theology on land use development research project
