My Gratitude in These Uncertain Times

Nov. 4, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

This is a challenging time. Not knowing the outcome of the presidential election, or when we will know the results, is deeply unsettling. At the same time, the pandemic is escalating in our region. It’s a difficult and stressful situation that is taking a toll on many of us.

In times of uncertainty, I find it helpful to return to what I know for sure. And what I've learned is that at CU Denver, there are things that we hold constant: our commitment to access, learning, diversity, respect, and inclusion. These are emblematic of who we are and who we’ll continue to be. Even a global pandemic can’t keep us from continuing our support of each other and our students’ education. In fact, many of you have been working overtime in these efforts.

We are so grateful for your work on behalf of the university and our students. At the same time, we recognize that you may need to take time to focus on your own mental health and well-being. Units across our campus have organized different ways for us to come together to reflect and discuss over the coming days, whether in our classrooms or with our colleagues. You can find mental health resources on the Human Resources webpage, and the Election 2020 website provides a compilation of election-related resources.

Stay #LynxStrong and take care of yourself and one another.
