100 Days of Listening Report

Nov. 10, 2020

Dear CU Denver Community:

Thank you for making my first 100 days on the job so meaningful. During my listening tour, I heard from more than 1,000 of you and so enjoyed it—your commitment, passion, and creativity are unique and irrepressible. Your insights into what makes CU Denver special and what we need to do to take our work to the next level have been a critical part of my learning process.

100 Days Listening Report

Several themes emerged from my conversations with you, and I’ve tried to capture them to share back with our community. I hope that you will take some time to learn more about my 100 Days of Listening, read through my report, and come away feeling as energized as I am.

One of the things I learned in my listening tour is that we don’t yet have a vision for where we are heading. This community wants one and wants it to be a differentiator for CU Denver. So we’re going to move into a strategic planning process, starting in December and finishing by May, that will define where CU Denver will head next. This will be an inclusive process.

Tune in to the State of the Campus address on Tuesday, Nov. 17, during which I’ll share more about the 100 Days of Listening and how it ties into my thoughts about our future and our upcoming strategic planning. We’ll also hear from a number of faculty, staff, and students across CU Denver about their experiences in this unusual year.

This will be unlike any State of the Campus you’ve seen before and I hope it will inspire you, as it does me, about the current and future state of our remarkable campus community.

These are our first steps together, on a collaborative path to defining a bright, bold future for CU Denver.
