Putting Our People at the Center

Our Investment in Our Employees

  • About CU Denver
  • Best Place to Work

Creating a Culture of Empowerment

High-performing organizations value employees as people, create cultures of empowerment and belonging, and provide clear opportunities for career success. These are the practices of the best-in-class workplace we are creating.

Investing In Our Greatest Asset—Our People

At CU Denver, we strive to put our people at the center of everything we do and fully unleash the entrepreneurial spirit that has defined CU Denver for its first five decades. We empower and routinely recognize our faculty, staff, and student workers. Our people are our greatest asset, and they play a critical role in delivering on our purpose, whether that is educating in front of the classroom or contributing behind the scenes.

We strive to create an equitable environment where new and cross-pollinating ideas flourish, where collaborative spaces for ideation and collaboration are plentiful, and where our employees belong and look forward to coming to campus every day to make an impact. We are making intentional investments that support our employees, their work, wellness, and life.

Our Unique and Relevant Employee Benefits

From tuition assistance to wellness programs to homeownership support, we are dedicated to finding unique ways to support our employees in their personal and professional endeavors.

Tuition Assistance Benefits

As a leader in education, we value strong, curious minds and continued growth—not just for our students, but also for our dedicated workforce.

CU's 401(a) Retirement Plan

We are committed to helping our employees reach their retirement goals. In our mandatory retirement plan, employees contribute 5% of their annual eligible compensation and we contribute the equivalent of 10%— that’s a 200% match.

Wellness Programs

From sleep training to nutrition programs to fitness center discounts, we are committing to helping our employees achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

Medical Benefits

Our employees have access to quality, personalized medical care with CU's medical plans. We contribute 85% to 90% of premiums, making health care affordable for our employees and their dependents.

Free RTD EcoPass

To help employees explore the city we call home, we provide a free pass for Denver’s public transit system—helping riders get from place to place throughout the Denver-metro area and to the Denver International Airport— which normally costs riders about $1000 per year.

Landed Homeownership Support Program

Landed’s down payment program invests alongside CU employees to help them reach a 20% down payment on their forever home.

You at CU Denver

Supporting an Equitable Workforce

As Colorado’s premier public urban research university with an unwavering commitment to equity in all we do, CU Denver welcomes employees from our city, our state, and beyond. We value diversity in backgrounds and perspectives, which is why we are in the process of enhancing structures, policies, and pathways to make them more equitable and help our people reach their full potential. In doing so, our university will flourish and help advance the people and place it serves.
