Ann Sherman
Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration
Ann Sherman joined CU Denver on May 1, 2023, and serves as the Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. In this role, Ann is responsible for overseeing CU Denver’s overarching campus budget and ensuring the financial strength and operational effectiveness of the units included in her portfolio, including finance and budget, human resources, technology strategy and innovation, facilities planning and construction, and emergency management.
She also works closely with CU Denver’s partners at the University of Colorado system, CU Anschutz Medical Campus, Auraria Higher Education Center, and the other institutions on the Auraria campus to oversee the allocation and provision of shared resources and services that support students, faculty, and staff. As a member of CU Denver’s executive team, Ann is a vital partner in advancing the university’s 2030 Strategic Plan, identifying new revenue generation opportunities, and further developing and nurturing an inclusive workplace and campus culture that is rooted in equity.
Ann has nearly 25 years of experience in private industry and public education. Most recently in her 16-year career in higher education, she served as the Vice President for Business and Finance at California State University, Chico. She previously served as the Senior Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Interim Vice President of Administration and Finance and CFO at San Francisco State University.
Outside of work, Ann enjoys hiking and kayaking with her partner Ben and their Australian Shepherd Kingston, and spending time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with her sons Forrest and Hunter and her extended family. To relax at the end of the day, Ann does logic puzzles, attempts to learn new languages, and takes advantage of Denver’s sports, music, and cultural offerings.
